Is GRAIN ROT on console, and does it have crossplay?

Quick answer

No to both, and the second follows from the first. Steam's platform data lists Windows only — no macOS, no Linux, no console. With one platform there is nothing to cross-play with. No port has been announced, and the roadmap runs to October without mentioning one.

This page exists because several sites answer the crossplay question with a confident “yes” or a hedged “partial”. Both are wrong for the same structural reason.

Crossplay is a bridge between platforms. GRAIN ROT has one platform, so there is no gap for a bridge to span. That is not a limitation the developers chose to impose on multiplayer — it is a consequence of where the game is sold.

Everyone you can play with is on Windows via Steam, which is why the co-op side is straightforward: public server browser, password-protected servers, friends-only and invite-only, all within one platform.

Worth reading the controller detail carefully, because it gets over-interpreted. Full controller support is a real, officially listed 1.0 feature — but it is a PC feature, and plenty of PC-only games have it.
