What the developers say about the place
“Descend into shifting ruins, rip out furniture, and escape the corrupted, then drag the haul home to rebuild your Outpost.”
“The Deep Layers are filled with Corrupted vessels, reacting to sound, movement, and each other.”
On going deeper: “Bodies warp. Voices distort. Emotes become…worse.”
Two things are doing work in that last line. First, shifting ruins. Community We read that as generated rather than authored, which is why nobody can hand you a map — but that is our reading of one word, not something the developers spelled out. Second, depth as a pressure gauge: the further down you go, the more wrong your vessel gets. It is the game’s only progress indicator that is not a UI element.
What 1.0 put down there
Deep Layers content named by the developers for the 1.0 release:
- 2 New Biomes (and, in their words, sweet ambience music)
- New Enemies
- Elite Encounters
- Boss Encounter
- New Elevator Modifiers
- Legendary Gachas
A patch note pins the boss down geographically: patch 1.02 fixed “a mesh related to a boss in the deep layers” appearing at the Outpost after a run. Incidental, but it confirms boss content belongs to the descent rather than to base.
Biomes, and the honest state of them
Two were added in 1.0, on top of whatever the demo held. One more is officially coming in the September Deep Layers Update, described as “one new biome and several new enemies”.
That is the entire published record. No biome has ever been named by the developers, no total has been given, and no official description of what distinguishes one from another exists. Names you find elsewhere are player coinages at best.
Elevator Modifiers
This one is worth being precise about, because the name is officially real and everything else about it is not.
Confirmed
- New Elevator Modifiers is a listed 1.0 feature, in the developers' own words
- Two new biomes shipped with 1.0, and one more arrives in September
- A boss and Elite Encounters exist in the Deep Layers
- Depth visibly degrades your vessel — bodies warp, voices distort
Not published by anyone
- What any elevator modifier actually does, or how you pick one
- The name of a single biome, or how many exist in total
- How many layers deep the ruins go
- Whether the rot effect has thresholds, or is purely continuous
We could fill that right column. Every other site covering elevator modifiers has. What none of them can do is point at where the information came from, because the developers named the feature and stopped there. How we handle that generally.
What actually helps you down there
Since the map is generated and the modifiers are undocumented, the useful knowledge is behavioural rather than geographic:
- Sound is the detection system, and the Corrupted react to each other. One pull can become a room. The enemy page has what players have worked out.
- The elevator banks your haul the moment you load it — treat it as storage, not as the exit. Scrap or grind covers what is worth carrying.
- Depth is a choice, not a requirement. More rot, more value, more chance of losing everything on the way back.
- The Elite portal is reported from around player level 5 — progress, not depth, and the one number anyone has given. What is known about it.
Community All four are player consensus rather than documented rules, with the official quotes above being the only part the developers have committed to.
What changes in September
The Deep Layers Update is the first major post-launch content drop, officially planned for September 2026: one new biome, several new enemies. That is the whole published description — see the roadmap for the rest of the autumn.
